Shaver Lake, California, located in Fresno County, draws numerous visitors annually for its outdoor recreational activities, including water sports, skiing, hiking and fishing. Visitors to Shaver Lake will find an assortment of events no matter what season of the month they visit, and the area abounds with miles of shore land made for exploring.

Fishing Shaver Lake

Fishing is one of the most popular past-times in Shaver Lake. Shaver Lake provides year-round fishing opportunities and features a lake stocked with rainbow trout, small mouth bass, Kokannee salmon and German brown. Bluegill and catfish are also plentiful in Shaver Lake.

Water Sports

Shaver Lake is home to a public boat ramp at either the north end of the lake or near the Shaver Lake Marina. A Crab Feed is featured in February, while the town hosts a children’s Easter egg hunt in April. In June, a variety of events are held including an annual Brewfest and a Youth Fishing Derby. In July, fireworks light up the sky at the Independence Day Celebration. August features a Cook-Off, while visitors can enjoy a Wine Tour in September. November and December are devoted to various events surrounding the holidays.

During the wintertime, many visitors to Shaver Lake take advantage of the pristine snow-filled mountaintops and modest temperatures. Shaver Lake is near a variety of ski resorts, including China Peak, which features 450 acres of powdered terrain and 11 operable lifts during the season. Visitors can enjoy downhill skiing and snowboarding.
